This got linked to on another forum. Strange looking beast that seems mostly fabricated from welded steel plate?

I think that is fairly typical as unlike a proper lathe (engineer's type :lol: )

The main criteria for a wood mangling lathe is maximum rigidity to counteract intermittant cutting rather than the last word in precision alignment on all axes.
