Members Map

Members Mapclick to view

Ever needed an extra pair of hands in the workshop?
Or fancied a chinwag with a fellow woodworker?
Wanted to view a piece kit or offer a hands on demonstration?

Then knowing where your fellow woodworkers are could be a great help.

We now have a members map based on the location details in the members profile.
Click on the link above to view

Less than 50% of the members currently have their location details completed by doing so you could not only benefit yourself but others too.
A level of anonymity on a public forum is understandable, unless you are based on commercial premises perhaps, so restricting your location to the nearest town or village or the first half of your postcode would provide sufficient information to be helpful but still providing you with a level of security.

To have your location added to the map, please reply in this topic and edit your profile accordingly.

In due course we hope to add additional layers (different pin colours) to the maps for Timber Suppliers etc. Please feel feel to express your thoughts on this.

What a great idea! :text-bravo:

Is it just because I run a very old browser that I do not seem to be able to view anything other than a global size map. Nice to see the far flung outposts of The WoodHaven2, but not so great for finding anyone close to me.

Terry.

Terry,
I assume you are a windoze user but even IE should enable you to zoom in and out. If you can let us know what OS and browser you are using I am sure we will be able to help out.

Unfortunately I am only able to test on Safari and Firefox but one of the other mods will chip in I am sure.

Andy

My steam powered laptop runs on Windows Vista and IE8. I actually get a big red box on the map saying my browser is so old it is not supported. But don't waste any time on this, I have had a look and I can zoom in just fine on the iPad.

No worries there Paul. the risk of making the journey to find you were out of bacon is not worth contemplating. :D

Andy, I see you pinned me, thanks very much.

You need to move me further north just to the right (fraction) of Pretoria.
(new place -25.78, 28.37)

Thanks Peter your are welcome.

Please all be aware that if members location details are entered in their Profile then I will do my best to put them on the map. Unfortunately there is no direct link between the forum software and Google Mymaps so I have to eyeball the data manually. So if you add or amend details in your Profile then please also add a note to this thread.

Thanks

More than happy to add you to the map Ghengis and is as this your first post welcome to the forum too.

If you have a moment why not tell us a bit about the type of woodwork you do in the Welcome board. A couple more posts and the spam trap will disappear. Photos are always appreciated of past or current projects.
