I found a piece of yew to go with the pen because Old bows were made from it and the pen being bullet shaped refers to modern weaponry so you could call it "Past and Present"

Very nice. Is the bottom section the same colour/material as the top, just shadows making them look different?

Yes they are the same just picking up reflections making them look different. I must get a proper set up like a light box and lamps

I like the Yew in the middle.... not sue about the rest! What finish did you use on the timber - looks lovely and glossy.

I used CA/BLO on the wood followed by microcystalene wax
