Tricky little boat repair.

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

Can't find if you've posted it but what glue are you using for the veneer strips ?

Lovely project and workmanship, BTW.

Cheers Roger. As Rod says, epoxy resin - 1:1 ratio.

Hello Chaps. I finished this tricky little boat repair this morning, but before I post up the finished pictures, I just want to amend a recent post....

A chap on the outside who's a specialist boat builder/repairer has been watching this thread and after my recent comment about which adhesive I was using and to what ratio, I received an email from the chap asking me about the ratio and was very concerned as the correct ratio is actually 1:5 and not 1:1 as I wrote. If 1:1 was made, the adhesive would be a failure as the mixture would have been too far beyond the ratio boudaries of a correct formula. I should have been more consise with the above quoted 1:1. What I meant was the resin and hardner are in separate containers with specially designed pump action dispensers so 1 pump from each container is the recommended mixture, which is in fact a 1:5 ratio. So, the resin's pump is 5 times the quantity of the hardner's pump. My above quote was 1:1 pump action from each container and not the actual ratio of the mixture. Cheers G. 8-)

Right then, I finished off the work today and here are some finito piccies. I've tried to get various angles to illustrate all the curves going on here.

The edging worked out well.

The client now has the task of more prep work before applying 7 coats of varnish to the hull and stern, then refitting all the hardware before the crane arrives to hoist her away back to the sea.

That's it folks.

Another happy client.

Cheers,
8-)

Beer night tonight.
