it's christmas !!!

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

I am not creative at all (beanie can only draw straight lines) but I found this pic in a magazine the size is 20mm x 40mm which is very small to deal with.

It was re-sized a number of times to get what looked like a usable size.

It then became a scrollsaw pattern which turned the snail into 2 pieces cut at a slight angle so it only fitted together one way.

The same pattern was then used for the snail doorstops also off the scrollsaw.

Cheers

Here is a doorstop, tested the setup on the large Hegner.

No pic of the 2 piece snail, will still search.

I have a theory about this and that is that the capability/annoyance/IT skills of a hacker is inversely proportional to the size of their genitalia.

Here is a neat idea.

Cut out of 2mm MDF and about 60mm wide.

There is some, looks like hessian, stuck on with a buton in the middle.

It was stuck onto an envelope which was an invite to a year end function.

Cheers Phil .. I make similar .. 3 or 4 for £1 ! .. it gets a bit demoralising sometimes !

Wifey and I are currently looking to use the existing machines , but take the business in a different , and more profitable , direction.

Currently .. I churn out wholesale 1000's of shapes for not a lot markup.
We are looking to make/market finished, and more unique items with a decent price tag.

I sort of got backed into this market when I built my CNC machine, to "help" me in the workshop .. I used to cut shapes out of the waste material, rather than burn it, and just stick them on ebay .. then the requests came for more and more .. and soon, I was just making shapes ! thousands of them ! lol

Value added products!

That’s where you want to go. Unfortunately I am not creative so of no use in advice.

I used to do contract work for a company that made chipboard. There are a lot of Tom-Dick-Harries who can make chipboard, so the only way to get market share is value adding and differentiating, like pressing the board with melamine (think designs & colours) or veneer and then using different press plates for textures.

Good luck, I am sure you will find the right sweet spot for your products.
