Today I am mainly making Santa Boards

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

Made on the cnc in some way. But is that burning or staining?
I do not think therefore I do not am.

Laser engraving/etching.

so, yes, burning :-)

about 1mm deep for these, so they can be used and cleaned easily

Nice post this and looks interesting, just wondered what laser you have Tusses, power etc. There are a lot of Chinese machines on Ebay is your one of them? Would be a good touch etching a company Logo on the side edge of kitchen draws etc (maybe another outlet for you :D ).

Well .. I built my own CNC ... so ....

I bought a cheap chinese laser, and modified it ! ..
it was the cheapest way to get all the parts and controller. ..
then I boosted the laser tube power and supply to 60w :D

Power depends on laser tube length, so 60w (1.2m) was about ideal for the space I have.
Does whet I need at the moment.

bear in mind, that a lot of chinese lasers don't work out of the box, and support is non existent.
So unless you can get it running yourself, choose a supplier that will help you

laser tubes are a few ££hundred, and last a year or two .. which is about equivalent to buying replacement bits for a cnc router etc. over the same period.

As for the logo idea .. it's out there ! .. basically laser'ers sell logo etched disks to fit a forstner bit hole .
you drill out to the required depth, and glue the logo in.

Thank's for the reply Tusses, should have guessed you would have thought about the logo bit. The santa boards look good.

Cheers Mark
