My last building project in 2008.

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

My last building project in 2008.

Hello Chaps. 8-)

I've recently been making my website more user friendly which also meant going through loads of old photos. I then found all the photos of the last building project I did back in 2008. This project was a two person partnership - I prepared/submitted both Planning & Building Apps, managed the project and did all of the woodwork myself, and my partner funded the project. I actually lived on site too - you'll see the green site office in the slide film - this was my home for several months until the house was habitable.

I thought some might find the slide film interesting. 8-)

Here's the link to the page. There are too many piccies to post onto the thread - hence the link.

Ooooh, I like a nice hand-cut hip. There's also a "hanging" valley. They're both awkward, because you have to project the rooflines out into space and work out where they'll intersect, which can be a bit of a test.

Cheers Mike. Yes, I liked them slightly complex and as I designed this roof extension, I thought I'd better cut it in. I wasn't going to originally, but things changed and so I did it after being off the tools for about 5 years. 8-)

Crikey, well remembered Rich. 8-) I did the 1st floor joist work and roof completely single handed, but I had a few mates in to do the groundwork, block work extensions and other trades including plumbing, electrical, plastering etc. Mind you, I also dropped the original plate heights and rebuilt them for the new the roofing plate height myself. I was also going to tile the roof and I did started felt/battening, but my knees were too shot by this stage and so I called back in two pals Larry & Pete - in piccie below. 8-)

I've been looking through the piccies again - there are loads of them. :|

Here are three of my mates who helped me on the project.

Larry & Pete. These guys did all the groundwork, built the block work extensions pretty much up to plate height and tiled the roof.

This is my very good mate Barney - the one wearing the wig. He helped me demolish and install the steels, then came back after the roof and helped with a lot of internal work. The bloke behind was/is 6'4" and built like a brick yep you've got it.... which confirms (as I was thinking the other day) that front door was (or is) either 7'6" or 8' tall. PS: I made the door frame. 8-)

And this was me on a date away from the site with the estate agent - she took the photo :o It didn't last long! I ended up dating a German woman who used to walk by the site with her hound - this lady was a bit wild. She wanted to get married and she couldn't take 'no' for an answer, so I ended it

This was my home for several months - cushty.

This was after the demo job - a big clear up was next. :|

This was the shop and on this particular late afternoon, I was getting ready for an evening of a few friends. 8-)

We had some brilliant times on that site - very fond memories are held in my head.
