The Oak Blob - FINISHED

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

Nice one Paul.
I have seen a shape like that before. A hand hold on a climbing wall. :D

I think I can understand the need for all those tools, except 2 mallets. One for each hand perhaps. :D
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

That looks brilliant, I've been itching to see the finished blob, the only improvement I'll suggest is to put Guinness in the glass.

Wrong shaped glass, and wrong type of beer - Ringwood Old Thumper is the only beer for a blob, and in a pint tulip glass, not a mug!!

Smoking and vaping have no appeal to me at all. I've never even had a cigarette in my mouth let alone tried one. Having spoken recently to someone who is in to vaping I can see that some people take the whole process very seriously. I doubt the person I was speaking to really knows what an ohm is but he knew a lot about what you combine with what for 'sub ohm' vaping.

Just thinking there must be a lot of people in to this in a big way and your tactile display system (blob) could prove a big seller if you can do standard cut outs that fit a range of products...

Nice and shiny and blobby - reminds me of a Henry Moore sculpture.
What happens if you extend your collection?

Paul, very nice :D :eusa-clap: :obscene-drinkingcheers: and certainly not what I expected it to look like.

The most important aspect is where the beer mug goes. :obscene-drinkingcheers:
(your choice of beer though leaves much to be desired! )

Black Label of all things. Where is the Stella? Heineken? Craft?

Cheers Andy. Yes it does rather. I was thinking about my old rock climbing days when I was carving the concaved detail.

The two mallets are different in size and weight, although the picture doesn't really show it. 8-)

Yeah yeah yeah... I agree about the glass. My old jug is a bit large for the blob. I do have others.... I think I'm going to buy several beers and see which one looks best - Guinness, Ringwood Old Thumper, Boddingtons is a nice mild beer and lovely colour.... 8-)

Cheers Robert. Indeed, sub ohm vaping is very affective and the best form of vaping for flavour.

Yes, I'm going to pop into my local vape shop in the week and give the chap a link to my new blog on the blob. 8-)

If this was a one-off commission, it would be in the region of £1k based on the time it took to make. If I was a famous artist, who knows.... :|

Cheers Rod, I didn't look at it as a piece of sculpture, but I guess it is. I would like to make more. 8-)

Yes, good question

I can make little extensions from the father blob to house any new purchased additions. 8-)

 Aye, I'm a bit of a light weight with the ole beers these days.

I used to drink Boddingtons before Carling Black Label.

Mild beers agree with me. I used to drink Stella years ago, but I always ended up scrapping with someone :|

Lovely looking finished product Paul! There is something rather attractive about the irregular and rounded shape, and I would say sculpture sums it up nicely!

Lovin the blob Paul .. PM me your address, and I'll send you a pint glass :P

I'd comment on the carling, but I can't drink what I want to these days  dietary issues ! (gluten)

so I have a duplicate glass going free for such a work of art :-)

Mr. Pinch: Having quit smoking over 30 yrs ago, know nothing about 'vaping', or its paraphernalia, I would not have a use for the 'Blob'. BUT, your skill as a woodworker is certainly of the highest order. Well done. Put it on the 'bay, with an exorbitant reserve of course, to gauge interest. Might be fun. :D .....5

Cheers Fiveeyes - lovely compliment - thank you. 8-)

I popped into my local vape shop this morning and gave the chap my card with a link to my new blogging site - 'The Blogs' - where he will find The Oak Blob. The eBay thing is a darn good idea, although not for sale, but like you say, it will be good fun and interesting to see where it goes. I'll create the listing then post the link on here - marvellous!

This might be interesting... 8-)

I've listed as 'buy it now' because ebay wanted £40 for a listing with a reserve. :|

It's all good stuff.
