Unusual Sideboard - FINISHED darn thing!

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

Oh and have you measured said hounds head size in case they could jam their heads into the bars and get stuck?

Looks good though.

Cheers Robert, yes, you're probably right there chap :|

The clients are going to lay something on the floor, but the ply is WBP. :|

Yes, based on the smallest hound (10 months old), we agreed not to make the gaps bigger than 100mm.

Hello Folks! 8-)

My last update before I deliver late next week.

I finished the woodwork today, leaving just the top to be varnished.

Here's the top glued and screw fixed to the frames.
Image

And final preparations before introducing my new sander (Molly-the-Mirka) to the work.

And here are a series of photos from various angles...
The front overhang is a whopping 65mm with 30mm around the sides & back. I've machined a small chamfer to the underside of the top and a large chamfer to the top side of the top.

That's it for now - thanks for looking.

I'll report back with final piccies of this lump in its resting place.

That looks the dogs danglies Paul...

It reminds me of a toy zoo train I had when I was a lad... one of the wagons was a lion cage like yours except on bogie's.

A perfect test run for Molly too :)

Cheers Jim - the doggies' doodahs. 8-)

Yes, I know what you mean. I had a weird thought whilst having a brew today, which was building an identical kennel for two chiwawas... I heard a voice say "Why do you ask two dogs....?"

Indeed, Molly is a fine breed. 8-)

If you are ever in need of further inspiration for a permanent sideline there is a rather strange museum of pet kennels in an otherwise very fine chateau and gardens not far from here.

I do not think therefore I do not am.

Nice one Andy - cheers. 8-)

They look very grand indeed. I wouldn't mind making my interpretation of one. This could certainly be a line to start promoting, but, very expensive. :eusa-think:

Nice work Paul. I reckon that needs some kind of EDPM floor put in it otherwise as others have said, a couple of wee wee accidents and their house will be stinking!!

Is the floor easily replaceable if required?

Cheers Mark 8-)

I decided to seal it afterall. On delivery today, the clients said their hounds are fully house trained and they don't expect any whoopsies in the kennel.

The floor is permanent, but now sealed. They might glue down some kind of flooring.

A colleague and me delivered the old lump today and we had a right old laugh trying to lift the darn thing! My mate Tim just couldn't lift his end, so I called in another colleague and so Andy & Tim were at one end and I was at the other end all on me lonesome. By golly... it was an absolute dead weight! :x

At the other end, my client (a 6'-7" chap) helped Tim and me lift it into the house. I was polite enough again to take one end by myself while the client and Tim took the other end. I was pretty glad to get that bugger in its resting place I can tell you! :P

Anyways, here's the house.
Image

Here's the kitchen with a snug at the other end where the kennel now lives. You can also see the client and Tim - language Timothy! You can also see the ar$e end of my bus which was great as we didn't have that far to travel.
Image

And here's the kennel without the hounds in it.

I'm now going to make a pair of oak garage doors for them in a few weeks.

No joy with the Tiger Oak just yet, but early days.

That's it folks.

Cheers,
