40 year old yew

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

40 year old yew

Some 40 odd years ago a local farmer where we lived lost his horses to a yew tree and hacked it down. To save him burning it I managed to salvage quite a lot, I carted it around all my moves in England just turning up bowls etc. Finally I am making a new telephone table for the hall, just got to finish the top. I will have to buy some ready made veneer as there are no more large chunks to resaw into veneer, I,m not sure over the matching though.

it is very poisonous when eaten by cows, horses etc. Maybe why they are often found in church yards, to keep the grazing animals out.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

Poisonous but also used to make medicines. I have a friend who sells his yew clippings to be processed.

Hi Andy
The table top will be on 18mm birch ply yew veneered on the top and a cheaper stabiliser backing on the underside, with a yew coping around the top.
