BRUB!

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

In the latter diagrams, you show two connections to 0v on say the camera? Any reason?
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

Yes, the video connection would be made by coaxial cable which needs a ground connection and generally speaking it is bad practice to draw the DC power via the coax braid.

So you could actually set the video with face recognition so that when FIL rings the bell nothing happens at all :D

Still way over my head BTW but your ingenuity shows no limits.

BTW if you press our bell push and nobody answers the door we are in the garden so give the real bell to the left a few tugs and I'll coming running. Unless or course I am in the workshop with the door case in which case you'll just have to walk around the house.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Whilst it would be tempting to ignore FIL. SWMBO would not permit it!!

I'm currently re-deploying the nursery (last active use 26 years or so ago) into a home office.
So the BRUB box in that room needs to be modified. Previously it has a tiny microphone and amplifier inside as part of the baby alarm instead of the sounder. Obviously we did wanted to avoid waking the bay every time the BRUB was activated.

The sounders I used when the boxes were first designed are long extinct but I found some cheap units on Ebay which are ideal. So if anyone was thinking of implementing such a system, these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121462290619 are ideal and about £1.25 each when you buy in threes.

The office box is now standard and chirps away when ever any of our alarms are triggered.
