Flooring the garden room / garage

Hi

I'm looking at putting some PVC interlocking floor tiles down in the new garage ( budget permitting) as it will be used for sports and I want something hard wearing. Anyone used PVC interlocking floor tiles before? they are going on P5 t&g chipboard flooring.

They seems bloody expensive :-(

Could you link to the sort of thing you have in mind. I have no idea what a PVC interlocking tile is.

I'm not sure what the advantage is of doing it in tiles. Why not just buy a sheet of the stuff and cut it to size?

Yeah I suppose with sheets you would have a joining line. The tiles lock together nicely.

Suppose a vinyl flooring would work, just not as hard wearing.

I've specified acres of the stuff in high-wear situations such as hospital entrances. I'd be amazed if you couldn't find the same thickness and grade of PVC in sheets as you can in tiles, and in widths up to 5 metres. Is your building wider than that?

We used a lot of that sort of stuff on the floors where I used to work. It was fitted with hot welded joins and in wet areas, it was continued up the walls for a few inches with welded mitre joins.
Would have been ideal for sports as it had a grippy surface even when wet near entrance door etc with minute sparkly bits presumably some sort of abrasive.
It did not seem to mark from furniture feet etc. Would be great in a workshop.
