I guess running a CNC and laser everyday, I get immune to it .. But, I guess some of you might like to see how it all works ?
So , I've decided to start a thread with wips of what I do day to day.
Years ago ,one of the things I used to make and sell were themed small bookcases , house or castle shaped for example.
about 6-7 yrs ago I decided to make a CNC machine to do some of the cutting out of windows etc, which I was , at the time, using pattern routing to hand cut templates.
(yes .. I do stuff like fixing things and making CNC's etc. for fun .. I like learning about stuff like that )
Anyway .. I soon started cutting little hearts out of the waste material , to use up as much of the sheet as poss.
I listed them on ebay , and before long , I was inundated with crafters wanting small shapes making.
I ditched the woodwork, and made shapes full time. It was fun , easy , and I was still fascinated watching this CNC I had built move about all on it's own cutting out pound notes for me !
I never did like the crafters .. or the craft "scene" .. with all the "oh that's sooo lush babe" kind of talk that goes with it also .. over the years .. the chinese started shipping out cheap CNC's and Laser cutters , affordable to "hobbiests" to run from their bedrooms and sell at a loss , or just enough to buy some more MDF .. prices have crashed ... and I'm looking for the next thing. But for now, the craft shapes bay the bills .. and I just look at it as "a job" .. rather than something I like doing.
I got a chinese laser early on , and "upgraded" it .. adding a more powerful laser tube and power supply
yeah .. you don't want to touch the leccy parts .. HT !
I haven't proof read this .. and I know I can't spell ! lol .. so , I'll edit and correct later :-)
I'll also post a quick job wip in a sec , so you see how it's done.
