Storage Box/Chest

With all the medical treatment I’ve been having over the last 4yrs I really haven’t done much in my workshop apart from the odd bit of DIY maintenance etc. But a few weeks ago I was dragged round a Furniture showroom ( to buy some anti slip carpet stuff) when my wife spotted an Ercol storage chest. Apart from the fact it was £322 it was also too big for space available for it.
“I’ll make you one I said, I’ve got some lovely walnut for the top which will match the chest of drawers”.
So last week I dug out the wood from my shed.
I’ve got 4 planks of air dried walnut that I bought years ago, 2 top quality and 2 not so good with a few knots and defects. After a bit of head scratching and a few design changes, I reckoned I could get the poorer quality walnut to work.
For the painted areas I’ve got several boards of “dirty” sycamore which should do the trick.
Lesser Quality
Good stuff
Cutting down, ready for thicknessing
