This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

Nice job.

To make your post look better, you need to place the cursor after your related text and then scroll down to your photo file up load and it will be neatly inserted in you post rather than hanging over the edge.
You can use the edit function to give it a try and see the difference.

Firstly to 9fingers..unsure of what 'hanging over the edge' means. I will try the things that you mention tho'.

Secondly..cabinet is1500mm x 700mm x 400mm
Wood is American black walnut..
Finish is..equal parts of, BLO, spar varnish, mineral spirits, and paste wax.

Construction..all solid wood, pocket screws for the face frame. Front legs are mitered, rears are butt joint offset to accept 1/4" plywood back. The floor, and drawer dividers, are plywood also. Front legs also have blocks to help keep miters together, and also used as mountings for case internals. Legs and lower rails are 65mm, door stiles & rails 50mm, and frame stiles and rails 30mm. All are 22mm thick. Panels are 8mm. Top is 28mm.

Time constraints and lack of skills were reason for pocket screws. I have only recently begun to use hand tools, so must take an efficient path.Bear with me.
Hand planes were used to chamfer the top. :D
Thanks for your time, critique away. ...bill...

Bloody hell, that's a lot of walnut. Which isn't cheap. Did you enjoy working with it? If you are looking to improve your hand-tool skills, as you said, then treasure your walnut off-cuts, because it is some of the very best wood you can work with using hand-tools. Cut a few joints in walnut and you'll feel you've got woodworking cracked! :)

I like it a lot :) . Not so keen on the handles, but then I don't know the setting it will live in.

Handles are one of the most difficult things to get right; these don't appeal to me either - Rob

I think it is a chunky, heavy piece and needs chunky heavy handles. So long as they are not plastic I think they are just fine.

I have only messed about with small pieces of walnut but found it a joy to work with.

Choice of handles and knobs are a pain especially when I have to consider use by arthritic hands (SWMBO) that wont open very far and minimal grip when closed.

Thanks for the comments.
I have saved most of the off cuts, some to practice dovetails, some for small boxes. The stuff that I did not save had mostly sap wood. Doing a quick figure in my head, I'd say 50-55 bd. ft.
The top came from a buy last Sept.,cost $90.00 US. The case wood was bought 4-5 yrs ago. Don't remember the cost, probably a hundred or so.
I'll get some more photos soon.
