I made this a while ago using the last fragments of my 'waterfall elm'. It's a small cufflink box to hold a half dozen pairs:
Construction is fairly conventional, being through dovetails with a large centre pin where the lid was sawn off on the bandsaw. There's also a solid 8mm top panel and the base is veneered in the same elm; no handle has been fitted but instead a small chamfer has been worked onto the front edge:
The lining was made from a small part of my stash of Bog Oak, 5300yo and was particularly irksome to make as the internal sections had to be cross-halved, then inserted from the underside into the housings in the side linings.
Hinges were from Ian Hawthorne and proved quite tricky to fit as the box sides are 12mm thick and the hinges are 8mm..not a lot of material to play with:
Finish is a couple of coats of satin Osmo PolyX with some Swedish beeswax over the top - Rob
