Mirror old project - hanged - Hung

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

Mirror old project - hanged - Hung

This is an old project about maybe 10 years ago.

The timber used is re-born Beech which I scrounged as scrap. It was stuck away in a chicken coop!

Cleaned it, planed and some thicknessing.

Then routed the grooves and bevelled all the edges on the router table.

Made half lap corners, easier and more forgiving than mitre corners (I learnt that lesson on the first one that I framed) with brass screws

The mirrors were also from a scrap heap and were cut to get rid of all the jagged edges. This one had a couple of scratch marks, nothing serious.

I framed two identical mirrors.
When we moved I hung one in the passage and this one was packed away in a cupboard.
Three and half years later it is now hanging in the one bedroom.

The back of the mirror shows the brass hanger as well as the brass clips to hold the back in.

The finish was Rustins Danish Oil

(big brownie points scoring weekend – wife is visiting her mother! :D :D :D )

Pedant mode. I am sure the mirror was actually hung and not hanged. Sorry, :)

Good job nonetheless

I say guilty as charged. The mirror had it coming! Nice job though. You should be very happy with that.
