The wife and I came home early from our winter vacation. We have been home since Jan. 8. To make a long story short, wife is having some medical issues. They will be resolved soon, hopefully.

The good news is shop time for ME. I am building a new dresser for the wife. It is sort of a surprise, as she is not go in the shop. My shop is in my basement, and she has difficulty doing stairs. She will find out soon enough tho.
Going to try to add some photos, too. The snaps are just some of the rough cut stock, and a couple of gratuitous shots of the shop. I have one end done, and am nearly finished with the second. they are frame and panel. When I get the ends done I shall begin the stretchers, and drawer dividers. Bear with me.

The last photo is trailing because you did not tell the form where you wanted it put so it leaves it at the end with a dotted box around it.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the project.

Excellent Fiveeyes. Nice to see some actual furniture being made on here.

That's a great looking workshop you have.

Update..as I had said, got the end panels done. Now on to the rails. I have made and installed the front and rear rails, successfully.
I am now fitting the drawer dividers, one is done, the second will wait till the morrow. These are only 25mm wide, and did not think, what would be a rather small tenon, strong enough. I notched the ends, and will also use one pocket screw.

That haircut did the world of good!

Coming along nicely.

As a another user of blue masking tape, what do you use it for?

The passing of my childhood friend has made it difficult to concentrate, in the workshop, keeping all ten is a priority.

I have the carcase done, with the drawer dividers all in. I am now building the drawers, their runners. I have a photo, but cannot find it, oh well.

Malc.. I use blue tape everywhere, marking center lines, showing face sides, etc. This is needed with walnut, as you well know that pencil lines and knife lines cannot be seen well. Use it as a shim material, too.

Must be hard for you, FE.

But I cannot think of a better way of occupying time following, or even during, sad times but to be creative with wood, while acknowledging you want to keep all ten.

And maybe to dedicate the completed object to the memory of your friend.

Having just read 'The How & Why of Woodworking' by Pekovich it appears that he's another 'blue tape' aficionado. I tried the technique out the other day in the 'shop and it does work surprisingly well. Generally a pretty good tome apart from a couple of issues that don't sit too well with me - Rob

I am almost embarrassed to post such a meager WIP, but an update....
the top is glued up, and cut to size (maybe)..not finished as of yet. I will test some sample edge profiles, and....all drawer boxes are done, as you can see.
Fitting the drawer fronts is the last hurdle. Will fit them after the top is screwed on. If the top wracks/racks the case slightly :o , I dont want to have to fit them twice.

What? This is proper woodwork. It's a pleasure to see something like this being made.

Wholeheartedly agree.

May I say that it deserves some better photos.

OK...waiting on some drawer glides, hope soon, screw the back on, and call it done.
I had a delay due to operator error. :o Had alignment woes while getting the drawers flush. Had to remove and re-work all the divider rails and stiles. I was successful tho. Took all day, but well worth while.Snaps of the top will come in-situ.
hope the photos are better.

I wonder if you could get used to the Place inline process to enter your photos properly.

There are two stages, firstly upload (which your are doing just fine) but the second step of telling the sowftware where they should be placed seems to be missing.

Sorting this out will get rid of the dotted boxes round your photos and allow you to write a bit of text about each one.
Cheers
Bob
