Belated Valentine's Present

This is where we don't want anything but evidence of your finest wood butchering in all its glorious, and photograph laden glory. Bring your finished products or WIP's, we love them all, so long as there's pictures, and plenty of 'em!

Belated Valentine's Present

Postby Malc2098 » 20 Feb 2020, 14:55

A mate of mine popped round this morning having just come back from soaking up the sun somewhere in Egypt with his wife and another couple. The boys, chatting before they went, realised that it would be St Valentine's Day while they were out there and they couldn't taken any roses with them.

So they came up with a plan. A retired mate of theirs does miniature stained glass stuff by twisting copper electrical cable, tinning it, shaping it and fitting coloured glass in it. So they ordered a rose each and presented it to their girls on the 14th, the pair of old softies!

So, my mate wanted to display the rose somehow in their house and as they lived by the sea, he brought round a ropey old piece of spalted driftwood.

I cannot take any credit for the idea, except the coasters, only the execution, but he's chuffed to bits with it!

I didn't take a photo of it on a window sill before he left, but it looked lovely with the light coming back through the glass!

Feedback! She's chuffed to bits, too, and put it on her bedroom windowsill! :)
