Today was one of those chore days as the weather was wet. On the list was to oil lightly the hinges on the door to the downstairs loo. I was very careful to use only a smidgeon but (and I'd never have expected it) opening and shutting the door to work the oil in made it squirt out under pressure. All over a twee little door that I made from elm to cover the mains stop cock.
I'd decided not to apply any finish to it as I didn't foresee anything contaminating it and I much prefer the look of natural wood. To say that I am gutted is an understatement. I will leave it to dry for a week or so as anything I do now while it's 'wet' will only make things worse, I reckon. Of **** it.
