Wound - gory

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Wound - gory

Postby Phil » 10 Oct 2015, 15:43

Ok, so we have seen a few wounds here in the past.

This is mine.

Two and a half weeks after the operation. The stitches were taken out yesterday, 12 of them on the top and bottom.
Still a fair amount of swelling as well as some pain.

There is a pin right through the 3 bones with a compression screw holding it all together while it all heals and knits together again.
Got another 4 weeks of wearing the moon shoe and before I can drive again. It so frustrating being dependant on someone to drive you around.
(She tries her best, but I am not a very good passenger, also short tempered and frustrated – thats me)

I spend the day fiddling around on the computer, but now with the bandages off and I can shower, will start looking in the garage to see what there is to keep me busy without having to move the cars.
Also done a bit of work-work using the other laptop, and keeping up to date on their e-mails.

We have a small gym up at our clubhouse, so I hobble up there in the mornings at 5:30 and cycle for 40 minutes. Up to 16Km now and will try increase the distance this week, as well as doing some swimming (we have 3 pools, 1 long and 2 small).
Fortunately I still have all my cycling kit and some new shorts with very good padding! That saddle is soooo flipping hard.

Cheers
Phil

O, yes, so what happened to the toe?

Well I am still not quite sure how it happened. It was during the process of dismantling my workshop and getting all the stuff off the walls, up and down ladders, so somewhere I must come down at the wrong angle, twisted, stood or whatever. (wearing my very old falling-to-pieces garden tekkies)
One needs to bear in mind that at the end of the day there was copious amounts of beer, wine or whatever was around to dull all the aches and pains of a body not used to such efforts, including some pain killers. :o

After we had finished moving and trying to settle in, I noticed some discomfort in the right foot, but just carried on regardless (like an old fool) until one night lying the bath I realised that the toes and front of the right foot was a bit blueish/purpleish/greenish!
The second toe also just appeared to be slightly shorter???
Put my glasses back on to study this lot, O Big Sh-t the front two little bones were slightly under the back one.

Ok, so there would appear to be a slight small problem. Just leave it till I need to see a Dr again, and was also very busy on two work contracts.
Eventually found the time, had some x-rays, saw the foot specialist and scheduled a date when the one contract (out the country) was completed and the other one up to date on their scheduled work.

That doesn't look a lot of fun! I think most of us would not notice what we had done, certainly when I did my leg I only thought I had twisted/sprained my ankle, no idea I had broken the back of my tibia.
Stick with the exercise, is there a sports massage you get at the gym? I had 4 or 5 treatments, brought the recovery forward by leaps and bounds, hurts while it's being done but the rests are well worth it.
Regards,
Dave
My tool kit is almost complete, only a few more to get.

Who me? Never! :D
I feel quite offended, think I will hobble off to the garage and sulk and find a b-e-e-r?

Dave, the gym at our clubhouse is in an old age home estate, so not much chance of any type of maasage.
(you would not want one of these old biddies to give you a massage!)

I enjoy the cycling, stick the ear plugs into the phone and listen to music.
