Your favourite listenings......

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Following on from my success downloading many of the suggestions from here last year reading for my annual drive through France, last night I tried to repeat the exercise with your suggestions from the last 12 months.

About half failed to download the mp3 files although the youtube clip played fine online. Have youtube found a way to tighten up the copyright or maybe certain artists are insisting on downloads being blocked?

Whilst I respect the rights of artists to be paid for their work, for me to pay to download to listen just once per year is just not going to happen.

I seem to recall that you tube now has an option where the up loader can choose if the content is downloadable or not ?

I don't know if there is such a thing as a stream ripper ? .. but that should work. .. else you could go old skool .. hook a recorder up to the speaker jack .. make a mix tape :-)

My mum had this on vinyl, so I've known this tune long before it became famous for other reasons.

If you can, watch it on YT with a larger HD screen and hifi sound!

Here's one of Pink Floyd's finest, but which for some reason doesn't get a lot of airplay. I can't think of a better set of lyrics for their live8 reunion gig, but I guess the fact that it was written by David Gilmour after Roger Waters left the band meant that it was vetoed. IMHO the guitar solo is second only to Comfortably Numb. Anyway - enjoy.

Thanks, Roger. I did.

I never got into PF for some reason, yet I've got friends who rave about them.

I've seen some of the interviews on TV and they really do have some baggage.

I liked this one. It has strains of 'Blooming Heather'. Must be the pedal note in both songs that touches something in my brain.

Tell me if I'm just imagining it.

Love the cello and piano Malc
I see he’s playing a carbon fibre one.
My 10yr old Granddaughter plays the cello (and piano) but a long way to go to that standard.

How about playing the mouth organ?!!! Checkout the duo's repertoire. There's some nuggets in there.

How spooky is this !

I thought I'd put a Jarre link up, to see if anyone else liked him.

Googled .. found the Paris live concert 1990 (I've not seen this one before)

started watching.

Thinking to myself what a varied genre I have played in from hitting metal drums with sticks to synths and electro ! lol

anyway .. it's just under 2 hrs long. I'm in my workshop, and the internet connection isn't the best.

After about 30 mins my internet goes off .. all 3 computers and wifi .. no internet.
BUT ! this browser has one open window still playing.. the Jarre concert.. and it kept playing.

(that is the only drink I've had today !

After about half an hour I texted my wife (in the house) to say my internet is off, and she will have to text if she wants me. Text back said hers had gone off too .. the main box ! .. and she'd reset it.. did I want her to reset mine ? .. WOW ! .. I said no .. Jarre is still working, but nothing else is .. so leave it and I'll keep listening. I noticed even the lights on the power line adapter had stopped flashing. .. it obviously wanted me to keep watching !

Anyhoo .. I kept watching, and there was a steel band on towards the end .. I chuckled to myself , about the "hitting metal drums with sticks" thought I'd had earlier ! .. but then I thought "I recognise the composition style of the peice they were playing"! .. so when the credits came up at the end I wanted to see who was playing ..

It was only the Band I'd played with in Trinidad 3 yrs earlier for the carnival !
Amoco Renegades !

anyway .. to anyone that like Jarre .. and has a couple of hours ! .. here you go :-)

I'm a little freaked out TBH .. and going to have another beer !
