Mac Query

Postby Rod » 16 Jan 2017, 19:44

I recently backed up my Apple gear including my iPad to my MacBook.
To retrieve some space on my iPad I deleted a lot of unused Apps to make room for some videos.
Today whilst looking in the "Trash" in my MacBook, in order to empty it, I noticed that all the Deleted Apps were there!
Had the "deletion" been transferred over the cloud?
I was always under the impression that once you'd backed up, the Apps were safe in ITunes to be reinstalled at a later date?
Just glad I didn't just empty the Trash without checking!

Rod, Don't know. I'll have to research that one with a book that I've got here.

Not sure what you mean by 'Apple gear' Rod? Another iMac ?

If you have purchased apps, or programs as we used to call them, from the App Store then you can always download them again.

I don't have the latest version of the OS or any recent iPads/pods etc and so don;t know how they interact with each other these days. I'm not a great fan of 'cloud' stuff TBH. For the very reasons you have highlighted.

I mean MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone.

My iPad wasn't connected to the MacBook (where I back it up to iTunes) physically.
I know if I buy Apps on my phone they often finish up as well on my iPad but if I delete them from the Pad it doesn't delete from my phone.
I was surprised that all the deleted ones were in the MacBook's Trash and taking up space.
I didn't dare delete them in case I couldn't get them back?
Removing most of the Apps only released about 6Gbs which was equivalent to 3 videos so hardly worth it!
