Wood Monkey Workshop Promo Film

Postby Pinch » 24 Feb 2017, 21:11

Evening Gents. 8-)

I am much more focused with my business this year and a part of my marketing plan is a short promotional film showing some commissioned work and of course, my masterpiece - 'yeah yeah yeah' I hear faintly in the background.

I thought I'd share my new slide film with you. It won't be to everyone's taste, but it will be to some and it's those 'some' who I will be interested in meeting.

I shall spread this around.

PS: lovely music accompanies...

Cheers.

Nice, Paul. Really nice.

I like the music, too. Wish I could make a harp that sounds like that.

Dare I suggest, could you do a version in 720 or 1080 HD? Would show up those lovely veneers really well.

Beautiful matey. I am always wowed with craftsmanship like this, but what astounds me is how the detail and finish can be achieved within anything like a timescale that would make it viable. I remember an old metalwork teacher who had built a fully working scale model of a steam engine from scratch in his spare time.... it was fantastic, but it had taken him 15 years!

I love the oval table/stand, are the sides steam bent?
...time is precious; waste it wisely...

I like that Paul, very much, it's classy and the music really suits the show.

You have an excellent portfolio there fella, you should be very proud...high end skills.

Would love to see the Tiger cabinet commissioned...it's quirkiness reminds me of the luggage in the discworld series. I'm a big fan of furniture with character.

Jim

PS. Sneaky cameo from Merlin

Does he have a lady friend?

Cheers Malc 8-) The music is by a Mr Simon Cooper. I've had one of his cd's for many years and this particular track is called 'Parting' - very nice.

Dare you suggest? How very dare you!

It looks pretty good on my screen but yes, I agree, it could be more crystal when on full screen. This version was uploaded as 'best quality', so perhaps it's in the actual photo sizes. :|

Watching on utube, Paul, the settings only permit up to 480p.

I've got a 24" HD monitor, and full screen, the images are a little fuzzy. It would make a really great vid in 1080 HD.

Cheers Dan 8-)

I think a lot of it is that some of the wealthy people are simply happy to pay for bespoke design & craftsmanship. It's always hard to price these works and I often give a firm material price and then a separate estimate in how long the work will take which is then multiplied by my hourly rate. As an example, I might estimate a job to take 280 hours, but I might complete the work in 250 hours - that sort of thing.

Yep, that's it - steam bent using construction veneers. Just the job. 8-)

   Nice one Jim! I shall whisper in Merlin's ear tomorrow morning, and no, he doesn't have a lady friend - but he does now!

Cheers - very kind words Sir! 8-)

The Tiger Oak Cabinet... oh yeah, this is the one that really gets me excited. I've sent out a little sniffty teaser today and I'm feeling good about it - at the moment

I can see this majestic cabinet in the Tate Modern. Oh yes! 8-)

Cheers Malc, oh I see, I didn't know that about YouTube. This is where I'm a bit blind you see - or daft maybe.

I shall investigate further.

Thanks for the tips chap - much appreciated. 8-)
