Oh, lime...I wouldn't have used him if he used cement! It's the sand vs chalk that I found interesting.

Mind you perhaps sand is better for pointing.

Interesting I've always been wary of chalk and frost resistance but that stuff seems to work.
I saw a programme a while back where they were renovating an old barn with an earth floor - I forget the mix but manure feared in that!
