Ouch!

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Ouch!

I bent my drill bit

and since every action has an opposite reaction, there had to be something else to absorb the massive torque from the Milwaukee drill as this bit jammed in the wood. Something else that had the same force applied as needed to bend the drill bit.

The 'something else' on this occasion was the back of my right hand being crushed against the corner edge of some studding. It hurt.

Those drills are very dangerous on a power tool. Years ago I was drilling through some floorboards, the drill took off and before I could react, it had powered through several inches of joist and through a power cable.
Enormous bang and melted drill bit! A very brown trousers moment.

Hand brace much safer with them.

This reminds me of when I worked at the college, the technicians were told to fit a sleeping policeman outside the workshop. They had a long SDS drill and a long mains lead and it was going well until they hit the steel reinforcing in the slab. Jack who was taking his turn being shaken by the drill, only weighed about 8 stone did a complete spin when the bit stop dead.
Regards,
Dave
My tool kit is almost complete, only a few more to get.
