A Strange Way to Queue Jump

Postby Rod » 05 Jul 2017, 17:20

I phoned my local dealer at the weekend to report that my car had flashed up a "Drive Train Malfunction" warning.
Earliest slot was in 10 days time and if I required a courtesy car then 24 days. However, as my car was still in Warranty, contact the car makers Emergency Service who would come out, see to the problem and if necessary provide a courtesy car!!
So not needing the car for the next few days, I phoned them, rather dubiously, mid Tuesday afternoon - but true to their word, a Technician came out within an hour and identified the problem as a stuck EGR valve. As we didn't need the car until 11:30 the next day, he picked up the part that evening and arrived back just after 9:00 am this morning. Car fixed within an hour.

It's the first time in 56 yrs of driving that I've had to call on any Emergency/Breakdown Services but it seems to be the way to go if you need a quick repair.
The downside was that I didn't get the usual free valet and car wash

Audi, BMW, VW, Ford etc etc they all have them to get around the emissions.
Mines an X3 and the first time I've had a fault like this and I've been driving BM's for about 25yrs. (3 series, 5 series and downsizing to X3's)
As I said I've never had to call out a breakdown service in 56yrs of driving until this week - and I used to do a lot of mileage.

That response is pretty impressive, Rod and proves the adage..."You get what you pay for"

The X3 gets a very bad rating on the reliability index:
