Saving Drafts.

Another question for our wonderful Mod Chaps... Great work guys! 8-)

I've never used the draft facility when preparing a post before, but as I shall be preparing a rather long post soon, I thought I'd give it a go. I've done a quick test and I see only the subject and message will be saved with other elements removed from the draft. Is the 'other elements' images?

Thanks again in advance.

Sorry, I should have tested the 'saving draft' with an image before posting the above question. I've just tested it with an image, saved it, back to homepage and then back to the saved draft and the image was saved in the draft.

That's a good point. The reason why your images are being saved is that, at the end of the day, all that they are (as far as the forum posting s/w is concerned) just letters and numbers....the URL pointing to whichever hosting site has your photo. So no different from the other words in the post.

If we change the forum to allow storage of images directly then that may not be the case any longer. Dunno.

I'm off work next week so will be looking further into this and trying to finish off my investigations into hosting and hopefully implement something...

Paul, when writing long complicated posts can I suggest you type the whole thing up, images links et al, on a text editor on your pc then copy and paste the whole thing into the forum post. Could save a lot of heartache if any thing go wrong.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

I find the best way to save your drafts , is to not get into the position where your opponent can jump over them.

I do all the 'longish' posts in MS Word, and save as a project in WIP folder. Each time I post on that thread, I would draw a line with "_" to indicate where I was.
So when I can find some time to find another foto-hoster, all I do is replace the foto info and re-post the thread as an {Edit}
