Anyone have any swallows left ?

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Anyone have any swallows left ?

Postby RogerS » 12 Aug 2017, 17:14

Ours gave up well over two weeks ago and left for somewhere warmer.

Can you blame them ? Temperature never got above 18 degrees C here in what was laughingly called 'summer'. Just hope that they managed to get enough feed to last them.
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

Funny you mention that, I managed to get a very short (3 second) video of about 30 or so going bonkers around our garden and the house roof yesterday afternoon. Not seen any for a while then loads chasing each other round the garden at low level then landing on the house roof and some others would have a go.

All gone now so maybe just passing through on their way down from yours...

Our House Martins are still here though not in great numbers.
They normally disappear in September but I've already noticed some of my trees and shrubs are taking on autumn colours.

We still have them feeding at our trout lake. But where the house is there are so many magpies most other birds dont get a look in. In the field behind us have counted at least 40 at one sighting and the noise of them swearing or their warning croak is terrible.
