Could you not plumb in a little logburner on the DHW for the winter months Bob, self sufficient & use up all those off cuts


Sadly no chimneys so it is gas/leccy for us.
One of this things I would fit if I was rebuilding the house again now but did not plan for it in mid 80s
Net energy costs are negative here so no incentive to invest in capital heating projects now.

I guess you know you can use an external wall and a twin wall flue ?

but as you say , it's more expensive to do that than free ! lol
