Parcel Couriers

I’ve recently sold a couple of items on the bay, one went through their global shipping without a hitch, but the second item was too heavy to be covered by their system - they only go up to 10kg.
Shopping around I got quotes from comparison sites Parcel2go and ParcelMonkey. Monkey coming out £16 cheaper for a similar insured service (£22 to £38).
The only problem is that you cannot complete the order without knowing the buyer’s telephone number, something the bay doesn’t provide. Fortunately an exchange of emails through the bay sorted that but it did delay the process.
I was quite surprised that the first item sold abroad (Italy) as I had only quoted UK postage. I had not ticked any boxes to use their GS.

I usually just bung in any old number.

I've been using Collect+ for my parcel carrier needs. Not sure if they go outside uk

I like the option to drop off the parcel at a local shop (7/7) when I want to rather than waiting in on a weekday for a pick up. There is an option for the recipient to have it delivered to their door or to a local shop which is handy for them if they are at work all day.
Best of all the insurance rates seem to be much more competitive than many others. I'm normally sending stuff worth low hundreds of pounds to all sorts of UK destinations and not had any complaints.

I once had the eBay service used when I bought something from the US and it went to someone in Canada. Even when they told me this on the phone they refused to rectify it and the seller wasn’t interested, so never again. I now use either Parcel Monkey or Parcel2go, and 9 times out of 10, select the Royal Mail or Parcelforce option, simply because it works and they bring labels, saving me the hassle. For phone number if I don’t have it ( can sometimes find it somewhere in the eBay profile or Paypal) then I put in my own.

Well I experienced the other side of Couriers today - none delivery.
I was given a delivery period slot by UK Mail for this afternoon. A van duly arrived at the correct time, parked for a while at the end of our drive, then drove off - no parcel!
I emailed the company and got a reply that it was out for delivery for Monday - what a shower, I reckon they forgot to load the parcel.
Thankfully I’m not in a hurry for it.
