Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.
Thanks for posting this Mike, I was in the shop turning some pegs when I heard them, looked out and was quite surprised to see them flying over on the way to your place.
Regards, Dave My tool kit is almost complete, only a few more to get.
We live directly in the flight path of Boscombe Down and it's amazing the stuff that buzzes around; aircraft from WW2, the odd Hawker Hunter or two and low flying Apache 'choppers (as well as loads of other military aircraft) - Rob
I'm on some helicopter flight path or other. We get choppers over all the time, both civilian and military. Almost all of them are flying from the NE to the SW above us. We've had a couple of really scary ones, with the choppers being at tree-top height, passing within 20 or 30 metres of the house.
With Middle Wallop, Odiham and a couple of Military bases nearby we frequently get helicopters flying overhead. We used to see and hear a Spitfire flying over regularly until the pilot sadly crashed it and was killed. Greenham Common is not to far away and before it was closed down there used to be one of the greatest air shows ever held, the “International Air Tattoo”. Now we have the Farnborough Air Show which is not quite as impressive.
I used to police the IAT at RAF GC in the 70s as Biker on a Triumph TR6P.
Once we got all the cars in there was nothing to do but watch the show. We were allowed flight side and I got to sit in the Fairey Swordfish and the Sea Fury of the Royal Navy Historic Flight.
We drove down to Cornwall on Tuesday to visit the Eden project today and as we were leaving the house my wife mentioned the article on the BBC website. We just turned out of the drive and they flew over top of us on their way back from Upavon or Netheravon airfields i think.
