Circular saw blade suppliers

Postby Deejay » 19 Feb 2018, 17:47

Afternoon all

Summit Sawblades now appear to sell shoes.

Any recommendations for a supplier of 165 mm blades for a chop saw?

Cheers

Dave, there is a chap called Doug to be found here http://www.cutting-solutions.co.uk/

He was very helpful and patient even for my small but critical requirements.

no hesitation to recommend.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

+1 for Doug... I've been buying tooling from cutting solutions over the last year or so.

Been happily using 165mm Makita blades in my TS55 rail/ track circular saw for the past 5 years.

Morning all

Thanks for the replies.

I had looked at the Cutting Solutions site, but the size I want is not listed. I know they will get any blade if asked, but I'll look for alternatives first.

Makita blades seem to be mostly 20 mm bore, in the tooth count I want.

I'm after a 216 blade with a 30 mm bore and 40 teeth, for a Metabo chopsaw that is occasionally borrowed by my SIL, so I don't want to put anything too expensive in it.

Looks like a cheap and cheerful option from Toolsatan.

Cheers

Indeed drop Doug a message. I'd avoid cheapy ones like Freud and co. A decent blade will have plenty of TCT, perform better and with professional use could last 10 years with sharpening.

Morning all

Thanks for the link Doug. I'll bear it in mind when I need a repacement for my Bosch SCMS, which stays in my garage and is only used by me.

Jim, you are quite right about buying the best you can afford, but the chop saw gets used very little for all sorts of small stuff, and gets used by people who aren't as careful as I am.

I'll contact cutting solutions to see what they can supply, but it still looks like the cheap and cheerful route in my circumstances.

Cheers
