Fresh air

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Fresh air

Postby RogerS » 11 Mar 2018, 17:12

Went for a toddle up the hill behind us this afternoon after lunch. 10 minutes later. Blue sky. Fresh air. What's not to like ?

There are not many of us with views like that within 10 mins of our front door. Make the most of them.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

Yes it is. I have an Android phone that backs up to my Google account and by the time we got back Google had stitched it all together.

I went to a “doo” near there a month ago - a talk by a retired Vulcan and Victor pilot about his RAF experiences including the Falkland Campaign.
I’d never appreciated that as well as refuelling the Vulcans the Victor tankers had to refuel themselves over the 7,000 mile return trip.

Apparently a very complicated arial ballet involving around eight aircraft to enable one Vulcan to bomb Stanley. The runway was fully repaired when I saw it in 2008 :D - Rob

Your 'light' by five Victors, Rob. A total of 13 Victors were required and, as Rod says, they were needed to refuel each other. And even then it was touch and go towards the end but I won't spoil the story.

I went to a talk given by the co-pilot of the Vulcan and very entertaining and informative it was. For anyone interested in reading about it I thoroughly recommend "Vulcan 607".

Yes Mark, we do get some bad storms, but as we are on the Gulf Stream we have Palm tree’s, which is kind of weird.

We have great sky’s at night, this was taken yesterday
