Threadlocker Loctite 271 alternative

Are there any better options available than Loctite 271?

Purpose is to secure machine screws that hold the hinges together in my daughter's orthopedic leg braces.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

I'm guessing that 271 isn't working for you ? Is there a need to undo the screws or adjust them ? If not then you could dot-punch them to secure them. The other thought is to call Loctite technical and/or Araldite technical as both I've found to be very helpful.

Or the leg brace manufacturer ?

There is this article which recommends a different type of Loctite

Thanks Roger,
When I wrote the OP I was on my way to see the chap who makes the braces for us as I was sure he was using something similar but the screws failed within just a few hours of us picking them up last week. Interesting to read how these things work - thanks for that link.

As it turns out he uses 271. Whether he forgot to put some on the screws when we picked up the braces last week or whether, as he said, he had only just applied the thread locker the same morning and it would not have dried properly I do not know. I certainly could not see any traces of the stuff on the screws.

From what I have read I do not think the 266 is any stronger just a different viscosity. I will stick with the 271 for now and so if it lasts.

The threadlocker range are not intended to be high strength

Do you require the screws to come out ever once fixed?.

There are variants of loctite that after correct application will only come apart with modest heat.
Consider Loctite 603
Otherwise if the ends of the screws exit the nut/female thread, the ends can be peened over.

Bob in theory the screw never has to to be removed. As he used 271 in the past on previous braces we will stick with it for now. Nice to know there is an alternative.

The screws do not protrude so cannot be peened over.
