Today

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Today

May I wish a Happy St Georges Day to all fellow forum members.

Do any of you older English members, like me, remember wearing your Cubs/Scouts/Life Boys/Boys Brigade etc uniforms to school on St Georges Day?

No. malc, never heard that one.

My cub scout troop, 25th Bromley, was next door to St Andrew’s Church so our big day was 30th November. Always freezing cold and we were made to parade outside the church for hours, in shorts and those horribly itchy green shirts. I was eventually drummed out for not paying my subs. Wasn’t my fault the chip shop opposite sold a bag of chips for the same price as the weeekly subs.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Not to school but a church march on the nearest Sunday?? to St George’s Day.

I got kicked out of the scouts which was attached to a church (St Matthews) and choir for being one of the ring leaders going on strike for equal pay at weddings.

Inflation.

Just checked the websites. Subs now £37 per year for about 39 weeks. Less than £1 per week.

Small bags of chips in the chippy now £1.70.

Can’t be sure but I think a bag of chips in the early 70s was 5p.

Malc there was a number things I was glad to leave behind when we moved here. Decent chips was not one of them.

Hmmm. My son pays about the same a term for his cub subs, so about £100 a year, then another £30 for each camp he goes on!

I should also add it is worth every penny as he absolutely loves it!

It’s such a beautiful plane.
In that lighting the camouflage really works when the ground is the backdrop.

A good question. Twin prop and with RAF roundels but that's as far as I can get. Nothing obvious springs to mind. I will make enquiries.
