Inevitably there will be the touch screen in the car that will allow you to choose your own sound-effect just like you do with the ringtone on your phone. So you could blast down the motorway a la Apocalypse Now.
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

Some of them already have a choice of engine noises to choose from, for the (internal) passengers!
Some non-electric cars have that as well!!

I agree Andy. I also think that whilst a ban on Diesel cars is a good thing we probably could have cleaned up petrol cars much more to use them as a stop gap until there are affordable alternatives.
