The time has come...

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

If there's gonna be any knee slides on the dance floor, make sure you're not wearing your polyester plus fours

I hope so. There are two concerns; my first wife who I haven't seen for about 15 years (that's Georgie's mum - Georgie is getting married tomorrow), and Georgie's sister Abby (my youngest daughter also from my first marriage) is the carbon of her mother. These guys have a few mental issues with practically zero self control and are unpredictable. The mum apparently still can't stand me and I haven't spoken to Abby in two years. :| :P

It could well be an eventful day for the wrong reasons, but I hope for Georgie all is fine & dandy. 8-)

I expect Georgie will be on tender hooks hoping her mother or Abby don't start.

It's the very reason why I left the mum 21 years ago.

Families eh....

Polyester ole boy... my plus fours are woolies. ;)

I'm definitely going to do the 'Dad' dance and my approach will most likely be the Peter Kay approach.

The time has come..... UPDATE...

Well, the time still hasn't yet arrived. :|

I had to cancel the test yesterday due to Mrs P and I were both unwell and we had a couple of serious sleepless nights, so I was in no fit state to drive yesterday morning.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm ever going to get there. This journey has been a rocky one so far and I'm now waiting to hear back from the training school for another test date, which could be weeks away. The test I've just cancelled was already a cancellation which is why I got it so soon after my first test.

Oh I dunno.... stay calm and carry on I s'ppose.

Life is still in limbo and I'm a bit grumpy.

Shame. Must be so frustrating.

But don't keep us in suspenders, how did the dad-dancing gig go?!!

Stick in there Paul you’ll get it in the end and look back and wonder what all the worry was about.

I started as an engineer on London transport, so had to drive buses on test runs. The trainers used to take us to Hyde Park Corner and say aim for the lamppost over there, don't make eye contact as you inch forward. Strangely gaps appeared. I hate driving anywhere near London these days. Never got to do the skid pan at Chiswick as a driver, but as a passenger it was

Yep, it certainly was - still is a bit. :|

Haha, yes, the wedding was a complete success - a happy joyful day from start to finish. 8-)

The Dad dancing was also a complete success

I did the Peter Kay approach and then that was it... a boogie night begun! 8-)

Mrs P and I were twisting, jiving, tangoing, with plenty of John Travolta and Tom Jones impressions in between - it was great, thoroughly enjoyed it. :D

Haha... yep, you get into very strange driving positions when driving a bus or coach with front steering wheels 6-8' behind you. I could imagine driving a bus through London would take a bit of getting used to. I shall make sure I slow down a bit on my next test when cornering - although I only fluffed up one of them and in fact, it wasn't even a corner, just a bad plan of approach. The trickiest junctions for the test are roundabouts, allowing enough time for the full length of the vehicle to be on the roundabout without slowing down traffic entering from the right. 8-)
