Monitoring data usage

Thanks for the info, Robert. The router does the login to the ISP and the modem just handles the lower level ADSL stuff. I'll try that PPPoE pass-through later today.

Woo hooo...we have lift-off.

That was it...you have to stick to PPPoE and just select the pass-through. Which actually makes sense when you think about it. Communications on the Internet (and Ethernet et al for that matter) rely on a technique called a 'stack'. The stack has various levels in it, gradually getting more and more 'intelligent' the higher up in the stack you go.

PPPoE is not the lowest level but is there to set up the connection with login etc to the ISP. So you don't want the Vigor router handling this aspect. You want to 'pass it on' to another device to do the work ie the Asus router.

Many thanks for recommending this router. Makes my Draytek look geriatric and I've got my traffic monitoring.

Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.382_50010

and yes working fine. My wifes phone wins todays prize for using the most data.

You tried disable traffic analyzer - power off reboot - enable traffic? Power off restart seems to cure most problems. It does take a while to get back to a steady state afterwards so give it a few minutes before going back in to enable.

Thanks Robert. Mine started working again..must have been the threat of a reboot ! Annoying though TBH as with these things one expects consistency.
