Rain

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

It’s only 21C today and a 15% chance of rain this afternoon - yes please!

We're practically neighbours and we had rain yesterday evening, last night and this morning!

We had frozen bird baths yesterday and today and max of 16c today.
I suppose I must enjoy the cooler weather while it lasts. 8-)

I've bought some more EPDM to redo my workshop roof. That was 2 weeks ago. Too hot up there to work.

Went up one day last week thinking I'd better start and almost burnt my hand touching the old felt shingles. I have one of those infra red thermometer things and it read 75C in the felt in the sun. Gave up after that.

Been cloudy this afternoon but threatening to rain (it didn't). Need 2 days with workable temperatures as I doubt it will be done in a day.

The wait continues...

I checked the memory in the digital thermometer in my workshop yesterday and it hit 39.7c sometime in the last few days. It's like the black hole of Calcutta in there and I haven't been able to do any turning for nearly two weeks.

With all this dry weather we seem to be having a large house spider invasion, normally experienced later in the year when they mate.
Perhaps looking for water??
My wife goes everywhere with a small vacuum for me to suck them up. It doesn’t kill them but putting them outside does.

We've not had a hint of rain for over 8 weeks, and there is none in the forecast (next fortnight). The earliest harvest the farmer (who is 78) can remember begins on Friday. With a wedding reception in our garden in 3 weeks time we're watering like crazy, trying to keep everything alive.

Our lawn has shrunk and cracked.

This is where it meets the patio edging stones
