10 steres, a little less than 10 cubic metres. Each piece manhandled up 6 steps. Great excercise in the 25+C temps we had here earlier in the week. Not a spirit level in sight
Mostly oak and beech with a little chestnut and cherry. We have had to change suppliers this year as the local ONF (French equivalent of Forestry Commission ) approved sawmill no longer suppliers heating wood. In 11 years of buying wood like this I have never had so many up-split logs and branches, ie that whole row on the left.
The small row on the right are logs from the garden cut earlier this year.
This is unseasoned wood for winter 2019/20. I used to cover with plastic but it looks unsightly and invariably gets holes in it and the wood gets wet anyway. About half of that will be moved undercover by about Jan/Feb next year and the rest by April when most of the woodshed will be empty.
