How much?

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

How much?

You did well to get a pint for under £4!

Huh, the cheap stuff at the Hotel restaurant near me is £4.70 a pint. Peroni is £5.60 and Asahi is £5.80. Spitfire is £4.80 and Guinness is £5.00. ;) Beer much less than 4 quid a pint down here and I’m thinking it’s off so they’re flogging it cheap.

Wonder what the driver is for the disparity? Can't imagine there's much difference in bar staff salaries. Business rates?

Can't complain in Derby really, beer is about £3.75 a pint and substantially cheaper at spoons. Loads of pubs are still closing though. Not a suprise when you can buy the same beers at £1.20 a pint at the local supermarket. Worst places to buy food and drink are shows and events, the caterers set out to make a killing rather than a decent profit. Some now have security checks to ensure that no food or drink is taken in to the venues.
I try to buy nothing from China.

I'm currently in Eton, dog sitting for younger son and wife, prices here much as you would expect!

As a northerner it makes you want to cry in your beer, if I could only afford a beer, so I will stick to working through my sons wine, whiskey etc in retaliation for all the years he drank mine!

One other observation down here is that most reasonably decent restaurants are pretty much similar prices to lots of also ran ones.

DISCLAIMER!
The above does not apply to Bray!!!, draw your own conclusions - bl***y good food though.

Back off home to Yorkshire tomorrow for proper fish and chips and decent beer!

I used to just walk in and buy my beer from whoever was the closest supplier.

Then one day it struck me while examining the bottles, the sneaky thieves had quietly changed the Ml per bottle! 340Ml suddenly became 330Ml

Being ‘Ol Scrooges great, great, great GREAT grandfather I decided to set up a quick calculator in Excel, surf the prices on-line and then go and buy.

I just plot in the prices and it works out the cost per Ml and then decide what to buy and where.

Just for fun I have converted ZAR to GBP and a GBP price per 500Ml (1 Imp Pint = 568Ml)

A Black Jack draught of 500Ml in a restaurant/pub would cost about GBP3.33 for 568Ml

The final conclusion that I came to, is that you guys are being ripped off somewhere by someone!
We also have fairly hefty sin taxes on alcohol.
