It's about 30mm long. Doesn't have the colourings of a hornet but I could be wrong.
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

Looks like
Urocerus gigas : A species of sawfly, native to the Palearctic realm and North Africa. Adults are usually between 10 and 40mm (0.5 to 1.5 inches) in length. These foreign insects do get here on the wind!
Looks the same as one on Wiki.
I could be wrong.
