Moving a website

Postby RogerS » 17 Sep 2014, 11:41

Currently my website is registered and hosted with LCHosts. Level of business means that I want to transfer it to a cheaper registrar and a free hosting service?

So would I transfer it to 123-reg and have it hosted by 5quidhost? Is that how it is done? Some DNS tweakery needed as well I think.

TIA

Be weary of free hosting. Its normally unreliable and some put adds on your website.

But you are correct if you transfer your domain to 123 reg first then you then change the namerservers to one your host should give you.

I have a simple gallery site with one.com

https://www.one.com/en/

They have been pretty good and someone answers on the live chat when I've had queries and they were helpful.

Costs me about £20 a year all in. First years hosting is free.

My site is hosted on Servetown, FreeHosting.

When viewed it is slow and then you get all the adverts.

Interesting re the adverts. I was planning to go with 5quidhost as I've used them before but admit to not opting for the free service. We shall have to see.
