It’s getting closer

Just give them a choice, wear a mask or wear a parachute? Simples!

Not good enough. Once the aircraft is established in the climb, the autopilot will be on and there will probably be no human intervention until they are well into the final descent. The captain should require the cabin manager to report if there is any failure of passengers to comply with repeated instructions - particularly in a Covid world - and issue his/her own instructions. The buck stops at the lefthand seat in the cockpit, but I would also be hauling the cabin manager over the coals for ineffective leadership of the cabin staff and failing to ensure passengers follow instructions repeatedly given.

It's our turn for the NHS Spitfire today. In theory. Low cloud may prevent it from flying our way.

Lovely shots of Hurricanes and Spitfires on the TV yesterday, to mark “the longest day”.

I already report to a survey being carried out by several bodies including UCL.
Have now been asked to take part in another one where I supply a test sample

I volunteered for vaccination testing via Southampton university hospital but apart from an acknowledgement, I've heard nought.
As I'm in a vulnerable group (diabetes, asthma & Barratts) they might not want me?

Mission Control has been selected at random by NHS for Covid-19 in-home antibody testing research follow-up study, undertaken through Ipsos MORI?Imperial College London.

She pricked her finger and did the test and posted it off this morning.

Mine too. Spent this morning deciphering the instructions. Result showed no antibodies which is hardly surprising.

Well the one my wife is doing isn't an antibody test. It's testing to see whether or not she has the bug now.

Bit bemused why they want to test your wife. I'm assuming that they know she has already had it. So why the test now? Is this concern about those who have had it not being immune from catching it again ? Scary.

Just mentioned these tests to SWMBO.
Her sister, husband and son (all members of the household) are doing regular covid research swab tests (not sure what they are looking for) but each time someone comes to the house, witnesses the tests and takes the swabs away.
Seemed rather labour intensive.
They were picked at random and no history of previous infection.

Close friend of ours started with symptoms on Sunday, after my wife had been sat opposite her after kids football on Saturday. Sat opposite on a 5 foot picnic table but friend tested positive on Monday and SWMBO got a track n trace message this morning to isolate for 2 weeks.

So just as daughter goes back to school after 2 weeks isolation because she sat opposite someone on the dining table at school, the wife is now on lockdown.

I on the other hand have developed a distinctly tickly throat. No soreness, no temp, just feels like there's a hair stuck in the back of my throat making me cough or hack to try and clear it. Hopefully just some other kind of bug, but a few days to see whether it develops, during which I won't be going out unless I have to, just to be responsible...
Cheers

Oh that's bad luck, Trim. Fingers crossed.

Have to confess that our situation affords us minimal risk. No elderly relatives to fuss about and/or go and see. No children either. Helps to be 'No-Mates'....LOL...

I'm not overly concerned with catching it mate (though not taking it lightly either) it's more the inconvenience and disruption.

On top of this, my daughter is due back in on Thursday after 14 days isolation and we get a letter saying that anyone who's used the 41 school bus must isolate until further notice. Turns out a 6th former who was symptomatic, still went into school for 3 days while waiting for test results while displaying clear symptoms, so now everyone who travelled on the 41 bus with them is now having to isolate, as well as their whole 6th form class...

How selfish, irresponsible and downright stupid do you have to be to do that!?

Seems a bit unfair? Surely if your daughter has been isolating at home then she won't have been on that bus?

Sorry Roger I've confused the situation, by that I just meant receiving that letter 2 days before she returns suggests that she's going to keep getting hit by these kind of disruption for a long time to come yet.

We'll be driving her to school for a couple of weeks and hopefully things will settle down a little... :eusa-pray:

Well, one of the nephews has just tested positive and he had only just been able to get back to uni here in Edinburgh after having come down with mumps in March. Now his mum has come and got him and taken him home even though there are 4 other people in their household who don't/haven't had it. His brothers are now highly peeved to say the least, as it now means they are stuck in the house with him :eusa-think: what will happen next I wonder

But then what do you expect to happen when you have 8 students sharing a building and all attending different classes and unis

Unis are supposed to have isolation units, and the students are supposed to stay there rather than travel home. That's a pretty poor decision his mother just made.

It's kicking off up here although I think there is a tabulation issue in the bottom half of the graph.

Not just greater NuuKassel either Roger; apparently, Ashington and Bedlington are pushing up the rates, never mind poor old Middlesborough.

Batten down the hatches. Not that we ever stopped here.
