2021

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Well, perhaps, but the place has enough rooms that I don't need to be in earshot. And in a straight volume competition I'd back my saxophone.

The very best of wishes for this new year to everyone on here.

My experience of ukeleles is a possibly a little different to most (no I don't play myself).
However I am best friends since childhood with possibly the best and definitelythe most well known ukelele player of modern times. As such he obviously had a particularly well made and expensive instrument. We're talking the Stradivarius equivalent.
Anyway, long story short , many years ago he drove up to visit me when I was living in North Wales. We went out for a few drinks in the local pub and about 10 at night he suddenly went white. All the colour drained out his face. What's up? I asked alarmed, seeing my friend in distress. He quickly explained he'd left his instrument in plain view in the car on the back seat! Even in the quiet village where I lived at that time I too realised the danger. Quick! Go! I told him. He ran off and I followed quickly after. By the time I caught up to him at the car it was all too clear. There was broken glass on the pavement and my friend was visibly distraught.
Oh no I said. Really?
Yes he said, close to tears. Someone basta*d has only left another ukelele in my car!

May the slide sown the bannisters of 2021 result in fewer splinters in your Chalfonts than 2020's. :o

Bonne année de ma part aussi.

Congrats to Rod. Have I missed an update? Are you home yet?

New year did not start well chez moi. Up at 1am and every hour until 8am removing what was left of new year eve’s tea. Only one affected but spent all day in bed. Only just beginning to feel human again .
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Worrying times for mum and dad no doubt. The treatment available for newborns is remarkable so I am sure she will be OK.

Our twins were 5 weeks in SCBU and a further 4 before they come home. Weighed less than 3kgs combined at birth.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Sorry to hear of your woes, Andy.

We, on the other hand, had a ripping start to the New Year. Damn good lunch ;)

Wow that is tiny, Ottie weighed 2.6 Kgs

Georgia has her own room and her partner, after being tested is allowed to visit. 09:00 until 21:00 hrs
Our daughter number 2 spent her second week from birth, in hospital with some fitting. My wife cried all that week. Daughter no 2 is now a PICU consultant working in London but is itching to get involved

Ottie is on the mend with very little support
Maybe coming home soon
My op is booked for Friday morning (fingers crossed ) it’s done under local so I can probably get home later that day.
The downside is that I mustn’t twist, bend, lift or raise my hands high for 3 months!
No woodworking for me for a while.

That is good news for both of you!

The hands issue - that's bad news for Mrs Rod
