Just had surgery

Postby AJB Temple » 16 Apr 2021, 13:33

Had to wait 25 minutes, before the surgeon saw me, closely attended by wifey, but am now feeling much better.

Shorn at last.

Probably lost about a cubic foot of hair.

Adrian and I got together a couple of days ago. There was clear evidence of a long lock down and a profound fear of spousal scissor skills on each of our heads.

   I'm really going to have to get my haircut. I didn't go between lockdowns and so mine is now VERY long. Kinda like my hair long but work doesn't approve so I've used the lockdowns as an excuse to grow it out a bit but need to get back to a business cut now

It’s been very reassuring looking at the barber’s mirror, and watching myself emerging from that tangle of grey hair.

The local barber used to be £11 a year ago, which I could afford, but has now gone up to £14, so I had to bring the household banker along to pay. She likes it when they get to the bit where they set my ears on fire, but I draw the line at waxing nasal hair, which I am sure would hurt worse than childbirth.

It has to be said that my hair was much worse than Mike's. I was born with a prolific weed and quickly look like a mad professor (think Einstein but without the brains) if I don't get it snipped frequently. I was contemplating a ponytail, but realised it is not 1960. My barber cleverly wore a mask so I could not recognise him again if he did a bodge job. However, I now definitely look like a model. (You can speculate what I look like a model of).

Had mine cut on Wednesday and a dental appointment today so the combined weight loss of hair and plaque is significant. Well it feels like that anyway.

I have used a home kit for years (30?), trim the beard once a week and then every 4 weeks a 16mm attachment over the dome.

When we had a barber at the nearest shops I would go every 6 months so that they could shape the mess I created

I was 13 when i last went to a hairdressers/barbers. It wad a snippy snips near the market in warrington.
Ive cut my own or had a mate do it or my wife since then. ( i turned 40 last week)

My wife is a qualified barber (she did an nvq at evening school) and will do mine occasionally but i still normally do it myself because then i dont have to wait.

I’ve been cutting my own for years. Saving a few grand in that time is an obvious bonus but I started doing it due to the convenience. I generally cut mine every three weeks or so.

cut my own hair for years and probably save a few thousand by doing so. the last trimmer I bought came from lidl and cost about £15 so if ajb temple's price is about par for most barbers one trim and you start saving. even only doing it once a month saves a fair few bob for other trimming tools ;)

I get mine done next Saturday. It's usually every 4 weeks for me, I hate having it round my ears. I like it short and spiky.
I do have a home-style clipper, and it's OK, but I'm not that great at DIY and my bubble partner is a liability.
So I'm really looking forward to 12.30pm next Saturday. :)

You poor fellas. I haven't had my hair cut since a year last January and I see no need to do anything with it for at least another six months. Lockdown has been a great opportunity for me to grow my hair to the length I've wanted for a long time but which would look unpresentable whilst a WIP. There's been hardly anyone to be unpresentable to! :D
