Text colour

Postby Steve Maskery » 27 Jul 2014, 13:07

Hi Mods
Can I point out something about the text colour on this forum?
When filling in the various data boxes, like name, email address, interests etc, the colour of the text is gold/orange/butterscotch colour. Against a white background it is actually quite difficult to read for anyone with dodgy eyesight (people like me, f'rinstance) because the contrast between the text and the page is not very high.
Can I suggest that it would be better as a dark blue or dark green? It would still change to black upon completion, but be easier to read whilst actually typing.
I'm no programmer, but I think this would be a simple edit of a CSS file somewhere.

TVM
Steve

Steve, without access to the original WH site we tried to remember and use the same colours. I am sure Mark will be along shortly and see what he can do.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Thanks, Andy.
Actually I do remember thinking exactly the same thing last time round...
:)
It's not the colour per se, it's the lack of contrast that is the problem.

Personally I don't see why it has to be anything other than black. I don't see what it achieves by changing. But then I didn't design it. Someone, somewhere must have thought that it was a good idea.

Black on white, always right.

I suspect that if you have normal eyesight it is not a problem at all. My point is that it could be better for those of us who struggle a bit.
I just don't understand why it is necessary to type in butterscotch.

Steve, I have some serious issues around the colour of the background and text on a lot of forums and sites. This one and the previous one, I have not had isusues at all.

Well that is fair enough. I'm just pointing out that I do, that's all.
It doesn't happen when writing posts, it's the Control Panel stuff that is the problem.

Agree with you.

The worst I have come across is the black background with white/other colour text. Not sure where these web developers get their ideas from.

Thanks for the heads up Steve.

I noticed the odd choice of colours myself and didn't really like it but not enough to bother changing it, but if it's potentially negatively impacting people then I'll see what I can do.

If it's any help Gents, I agree with Steve M. I too have problems with the contrast of the "butterscotch" (?) colour against the white (or very light grey) background.

I CAN work with it but would much prefer either simple B&W or a colour with a much better contrast if it's not too much trouble please (I appreciate "Da Management" has lots of other stuff to do).

Thanks
