Dave,

I don't know. You're only two counties away, yet Andy across the Channel can see them in Normandie.

Mods. Any ideas?

Has to be a local issue chaps, sorry. The links are all ok linking to photobucket. I am not a tapatalk user so can't comment on why that app seems to have so many issues with images. Can only suggest clearing caches, cookies etc or perhaps closing app and reopen.

This will be an issue between Tapatalk and Photobucket. Maybe even just a particular version of TT

Obviously we do not run the forum to run only on specified browsers. All we are doing is enabling a link from a post to images held elsewhere, in this case Photobucket.

Understanding why Chrome should not allow you to display an image hosted by Photobucket is above my payscale. I quick google search on why "chrome not displaying forum images" brings up many responses.

Could i possibly impose on one of the chrome users to google this problem and see if any of the suggestions solve the problem.

This is derailing Malc's thread some what.

Difficulty viewing some images

Postby RogerS » 02 Jun 2017, 05:58

The above posts have been moved from Malc's thread.

OK....bottom-line is that browser's are undergoing a state of constant development (aka messing about for no good reason on many occasions). New features appear and disappear. Security fixes come along that prevent previous functionality from working...pace Youtube videos embedded in a forum post becoming unviewable in some browsers.

The other important thing to be aware of is that browsers might behave differently on different platforms....desktop, laptop, tablet...and on different operating systems ...Mac/Linux/Windows ...and on different versions of operating systems ....OSX 10.9, 10.10, Vista, Windows 10 etc....and even different versions of the browser ...Safari 9.1.3 (on OSX 10.9.5) which is the version that I use.

So it's perhaps surprising that the web actually works at all!

Now factor in changes to the image hosting platform such as Photobucket. And to third-party software such as Tapatalk. An almost infinite variety of combinations that may/may not work.

So back to Malc's photos (although I suspect any photos on Photobucket)....I can see them perfectly OK on Safari on my Mac (NB ...exact variant as above) but not in Chrome.

As Andy says, it's very unlikely that it is the forum software. The solution is to try a different browser and/or platform and hope that *someone* fixes the problem although sometimes, like the inability to view embedded Youviews, can't be due to security constraints.

I also can't see Malcs' pictures, whereas I used to see them.

I also now can't see the emoticons, just shows a small square.

On W7 and Firefox 64

Try a different browser, Phil. Also if you have any add-ons/extensions/themes for Firefox then try temporarily disabling them. It's annoying, I know.

Morning all

In a word, yes.

Firefox 53.0.3 on Win 7 Pro.

Instead of the picture in Malcolm's thread, I see the word 'Image'.

Pictures in other threads (Mike's an Roger's ) are still shown normally.

In Chrome, there are logos with the word 'image' next to them.

Right clicking and opening in a new tab, doesn't work and Chrome suggests that I try clearing all my cookies.

I'll try later.

Cheers

Can you see this posted using the IMG string from photobucket

and this posted using the Direct string from photobucket

Interestingly I can see both images, Andy, using Safari and also Chrome Version 52.0.2743.116 (64-bit) but when I look at Malcolm's thread I can't see his photos using the same Chrome browser. Bizarre.

Here are the HTML codes for the various photos. The first two are Andy's, the next two from Malcom's thread.

I think its something to do with the way Photobucket have configured/messed up their servers ...the i61 is the duff one.

NB Odd brackets deleted to stop the forum software showing photos and not the code!

Pasting one of Malcs into the address bar on Firefox i get a message from firefox that the server is not redirecting properly. The URL afterwards has many .html.html.html added at the end.

Photobucket problem?

All of a sudden I cannot see Malc's images  in Firefox everything was fine until I logged into Photobucket to post the above. I have since logged out, cleared history, cache, offline website data, site preferences etc etc and I still cannot see Malc's images.
Have checked one of Dalboy's threads who also uses photobucket and they are OK, using the i702 photobucket server.

Safari is loading Malc's images no problem.

Agree with you and imagine that this problem will resolve itself.

I think undoubtedly yes. But that does not explain why Safari can view images that Firefox cannot

I've just lost malcs pictures too. PC/Winxp/Seamonkey latest ver.

Differing performance of PB servers sound very likely and would explain why we see some not others.

Good reason to go and do some woodwork eh?

Yes I can see both images Andy

In Chrome, I get the option to copy the Photobucket address. If I paste it into FF I get an error report ...

'i61photobucket.com redirected too many times'

I've tried clearing the cookies in Chrome. No joy.

I've enabled all cookies in FF. Again, no joy.

Image

http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo3/ ... 082874.jpg

I logged in to my PB account and posted the two links for a picture.

The IMG link shows the picture and the direct link just shows the url.

The IMG link looks a bit odd to me, but I've only just started using PB again after a long absence.

I understand that PB are in the process of introducing 'new and improved ' (AKA not fully tested) software.

I think it may be a PB problem.

HTH.

  Don't worry Malc. One thing for sure it is not your fault and 99% sure it is not ours either.
There is a just possibility that you might not be able to upload to your album whilst the problem persists?
Normal service should resume when Photophucket have sorted themselves out.

Have a look at the Photobucket Blog, System and Website Status Updates. We are not alone :)

I have also sent a mail to Photobucket support specifically concerning the i61 server. Mail acknowledged but no reply yet.

I very reluctantly fired up Chrome, first time.

Malc's pics don't show.

If I am correct there was a PB problem last year???
