Forum outage!?

Postby TrimTheKing » 18 Sep 2014, 07:29

Morning all

I'm not absolutely certain whether this was my home connection, a hosting issue or an internet based routing problem but when I looked at the forum before leaving for work this morning I got an error saying that the domain was not available.

I started to investigate but it suddenly sprang back to life at 06:55, so I know it was offline for at least 10 mins but how much longer I can't be sure.

What I did note though was that all of my domains attached to this host were offline so I can assure you that the site integrity is fine and whatever caused this was a more global issue relating to one of the above causes and not a problem with this forum in particular.

I am now on a train to London so won't have chance to delve any deeper until this evening but do post in here if you noticed any downtime as I would be interested as to whether this affected more than just me.

Thanks
Mark

Mark, I have noticed some General SQL error messages sometimes recently when accessing a page and/or the site never responded but I suspect it may have coincided with someone :eusa-think: tweaking the site ;) :D

I noticed the downtime first thing this morning on my Iplod. By the time I had fully woken up and logged in on the mac all was well.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

SQL errors Roger???

That's not healthy! I haven't been doing any tweaking lately that has gone near the SQL database. Any tickling I've done has been to the front end only...

Can you give me any dates/times when you've seen them so I can look through the logs?

I have cleared the forum cache a number of times yesterday while messing with the favicon stuff, which would have caused people's auto-login to reset but I wouldn't have expected it to give SQL errors, unless maybe you were mid post perhaps...

Sorry, Mark, but can't be any too specific. I pop into the forum throughout the day. IIRC it was a General SQL error message but that's probably not much help.

If it happens again I'll capture all relevant details, time/date, screenshot etc.

Enjoy the Big Smoke !

Thanks Roger

Was it just yesterday or have you seen them before?

If it was just yesterday then possibly just because of the cache clearing but would be good to try and find out for sure.
